 Sunday 10th December 2017 - Christmas Show (Inhouse to members and liveries)  Starts 09:30hrs  Class 1 Fancy dress Christmas – Cross poles 30cm (1ft approx) – One round against the clock. Riders on the lead rein welcome. Results will be split to Lead Rein and Non-Lead rein sections.  Class 2 Family ride and run class – Cross poles 40-45cm (1ft.4in-1ft6 approx) – Rider jumps round a course of cross poles then a family member, parent/sibling runs around the same course. Fastest, clear pair wins.  Class 3 Dog and Dobbin – 45-50cm (1ft.6in-1ft.9 approx) - Rider jumps round a course of jumps, then dog and handler have to jump the same course. Fastest, clear pair wins.  Class 4 Santa stakes – 50cm (1ft.9in approx) – Two phase.  Class 5 Novice Christmas Cracker Pairs – 60cm-65cm (2ft.-2ft.3 approx) – First rider jumps round a course of jumps, passes baton to second rider to then jump round same course. Fastest, clear pair wins. A minimum of four pairs required for this class to run.  Class 6 Christmas Cracker Stakes – 70cm-75cm (2ft3-2ft6 approx) – Two phase.  Class 7 Pudding stakes – 75cm- 85cm (2ft.6-2ft9 approx) – Two phase.  Class 8 Holly High Jump – starting at 90cm – There will be two fences for this competition. One spread which will remain at 90cm, the other, an upright, will be raised in each round. Riders must clear both fences in each round in order to continue and whoever clears the highest fence round is the winner.  Lead rein or assistance allowed in class 1. Classes 4,6 and class 7 are two phase (if clear round jumped, jump off will follow immediately). Rosettes 1st to 4th place, more if entries warrant. Christmas treat to winner of each class The course will be made of a mixture of poly/schooling jumps.  Entries  Riding School clients and external riders must pre-book by Thursday 7th December 2017 using the entry form. Fletchers Farm Livery Members can enter on the day  Classes 1,2,3,4,6,7,8 - £6 Members, £8 Non-members, £20 Riding School Clients (includes Horse Hire) Classes 5 - £10 per pair of Members, £14 per pair of Non-members, £30 per pair Riding School Clients (includes Horse Hire)  If paying by cheque please make cheque payable to: Fletchers Farm Riding School Hot / cold drinks available  Show Jumping Rules  No entry will be accepted without the appropriate fee. Pre-Entry only for this show. The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry, vary the order or composition of, or cancel any event in this schedule at any time. In the event of the show being cancelled due to weather or similar, messages will be left on the number provided on your entry form. Classes may be split or amalgamated at the organisers' discretion. All course heights are approximate. Correct riding dress should be worn and hat with a fixed harness to a minimum standard of PAS 015 must be worn by riders at all times.  Judged under BS Rules, however the Judges' decision is final.  The organisers have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructors or the organiser, officials and stewards.  If this is your first show competing please note that we allow assistance or leading in the classes indicated on the schedule page. Please remember horses can behave differently in the ring to normal lessons or schooling at home and if you would like assistance please ask. Competitors enter classes at their own risk.  Please use designated warm up area only. Do not stand on the track where others are riding and cause an obstruction. Please ride responsibly and observe manage etiquette. Please do not re-enter the warm up arena once you have finished your jumping round. No lunging allowed on the show ground. All lorries and horse trailers to be parked in designated grass area. Please tidy hay, droppings and mess from the grass area before leaving. Parking can be restricted if the show is busy so please park close to the next horsebox or as directed by a show steward.  Please ensure that dogs are kept on a lead at all times.  Photographs of class winners / placed riders may be printed / placed onto various media including the FF website, Essex Rider, the FF Facebook page. If you do not wish this to happen you must notify us in writing.  It is assumed that on entering the competition that you have read and have agreed to the rules above.   Please note the office will confirm your booking. Sunday 17th December – Pony Club Trip to Jump Street  

Pony club are going to Jump Street in Colchester on Sunday 17th of December and would love you all to come. 
The cost will be £10 per head which includes your jump session of one hour plus a cold drink/slushy afterwards. 
Please bring your own jump socks if you have them, but if you don’t have any yet they can be purchased for £1.75 on the day (please bring this with you). Parents must have signed a consent form for you to be able to participate, so please ensure this form is done at the site before your adult leaves. 
 
We will meet at the main entrance at 2.30pm, with jumping at 3-4pm, followed by drinks upstairs. Pick up will be from the main entrance at 4.45pm. 
Places will be limited so please contact the office as soon as possible, thank you.

Thursday 21st December - Private lessons with Emily Bradshaw  A chance for our members to ride in a private lesson with local event rider and Pony Club Coach, Emily Bradshaw. Open to children aged 7 years old and upwards. A supervised morning having a go at all pony chores, from filling haynets to mucking out stables. Saturday 6th January – New for 2018 - Ceciles' Club - Pony Games  

If you enjoy gymkhana games and creative lessons, come and join Cecile for one or more of her indoor mounted games sessions. 
These sessions are ideal for riders who learn through play and creative thinking on horseback rather than a more traditional type lesson. 
Sessions can include obstacle training, gymkhana, in-hand games, mounted games, relays, barrel racing and much more. 
Cecile is a qualified Horse Riding Coach, but also an experienced PE Teacher and draws on her experiences to make these sessions a little different for our riders. 
12.00-13.00 on Saturday mornings 
£25 per ride - Please call the office to book as per normal lesson bookings.

The BHS EHKC is the perfect introduction to equine care and management, and is an informative and interesting course for those wishing to learn more about horse care. It is ideal for non-horsey parents, first time horse owners/carers or those wishing to expand their knowledge. The level 1 course builds further on the information gained in the entry level course and covers the process of buying a horse and the costs of ownership. There is a written test in the last week of the course.  The course will run for four consecutive Sundays. Starts: Sunday 7th January 2018 Time: 14.00-17.00 Cost: £90

A selection of ridden clinics with Pernille Petersen, working on unaffiliated level dressage tests in our indoor school. 
Each type of test will run for two consecutive weeks to allow the group a chance to discuss any movements, and practice different elements as required. 
 
All are held 5-6pm on Tuesdays in our indoor school in groups of up to six riders and we would encourage our riders who wish to compete later in the year to try some of these. 
 
-Intro levels are suitable for riders who are competent in their trot work and learning to canter. 
-Prelim levels are suitable for riders who can canter. 
-Novice levels are suitable for riders who are working on their scales of training and starting to improve the horses way of going.

A selection of short topics that allow for practice or development of new skills in some mounted and stable management areas. 
Each topic runs for two consecutive weeks in order to allow repetition of the area that is being improved or acquired. The sessions will consist of half an hour theory in our heated portacabin and half an hour practice on the yard or in the indoor school. Please bring your riding hats with you for the yard/indoor school session or feel free to hire one of ours when you book. 
 
All are held 4.30pm-5.30pm on Thursdays and are a perfect IT free zone for children to socialise and practice new skills. 
 
Suitable for beginners and upwards. 
 
Putting on Bridles – 11th & 18th January 
(includes basic fit of a bridle) 
 
Leading ponies in-hand – 25th January & 1st February 
(includes a try at trotting up a pony – Good practice for gymkhana days!) 
 
Mounting & stirrup lengths – 8th & 15th February 
(includes positioning the pony at the block yourself and tightening girths)

(includes learning about different types of saddles and their uses)

Satruday 3rd Feb – Back to Basics Course 

Do you want to try horse riding? Maybe you rode as a child and would love to have another try? 
Our six-week course starts on Saturday mornings from the 3rd February 2018, and is designed to get you back into the saddle whatever level you previously achieved. There is the opportunity to further develop your skills after this course by taking the BHS Essential Horse Knowledge certificates that we offer. 
 
11.00-13.00hrs 
Each week includes: 
One-hour riding lesson & one-hour stable management session with Jackie Colbert BHSAI 
Week 1 – H&S around horses and Leading 
Week 2 – Riders safety equipment

Thursday 8th & 15th March – Pony Practice Sessions  

A selection of short topics that allow for practice or development of new skills in some mounted and stable management areas. 
Each topic runs for two consecutive weeks in order to allow repetition of the area that is being improved or acquired. The sessions will consist of half an hour theory in our heated portacabin and half an hour practice on the yard or in the indoor school. Please bring your riding hats with you for the yard/indoor school session or feel free to hire one of ours when you book. 
 
All are held 4.30pm-5.30pm on Thursdays and are a perfect IT free zone for children to socialise and practice new skills. 
 
Suitable for beginners and upwards. 
 
Putting on Bridles – 11th & 18th January 
(includes basic fit of a bridle) 
 
Leading ponies in-hand – 25th January & 1st February 
(includes a try at trotting up a pony – Good practice for gymkhana days!) 
 
Mounting & stirrup lengths – 8th & 15th February 
(includes positioning the pony at the block yourself and tightening girths) 
 
Putting on Saddles – 22nd & 1st March 
(includes learning about different types of saddles and their uses) 
 
Jump & pole distances - 8th & 15th March 
(learn how to walk and stride a double and why you need to know how long your step is!) 
 
Each two-week session is £40

Tuesday 20th & 27th March – Dressage Divas' Ride  

A selection of ridden clinics with Pernille Petersen, working on unaffiliated level dressage tests in our indoor school. 
Each type of test will run for two consecutive weeks to allow the group a chance to discuss any movements, and practice different elements as required. 
 
All are held 5-6pm on Tuesdays in our indoor school in groups of up to six riders and we would encourage our riders who wish to compete later in the year to try some of these. 
 
-Intro levels are suitable for riders who are competent in their trot work and learning to canter. 
-Prelim levels are suitable for riders who can canter. 
-Novice levels are suitable for riders who are working on their scales of training and starting to improve the horses way of going.

Saturday 7th April Dressage Show  Please note the office will confirm your booking. By submitting this form you agree with the show rules.  Schedule to follow   Classes 1 – 4: £10.00 Members, £12.00 Non-Members. Late entries £12.00 Members, £14.00 Non-Members if classes not full.  Entries close the Thursday before the event at 12 noon. Please Telephone for times on the Friday before the event between 1000hrs and 1400hrs or look on our facebook page or here on the calendar.
