Pony Club
Pony Club 2024 Interested in learning more about ponies and their care? Come and join FFRS Pony Club!! As an approved Pony Club Centre, Fletchers Farm Riding School offers fun, non-ridden sessions for children to meet new friends and learn all about ponies and stable management. Sessions will cover topics such as grooming ponies, their health, feeding, field care, as well as games/quizzes and working towards Pony Club badges (please note to gain badges children will need to be current members of the national Pony Club organisation). Pony Club will be running on Tuesday evenings from 6pm-7.30pm during term times, with Jackie Colbert leading the sessions. Any child over 5 years old can join us and children must bring their own hats each week (hats can be prebooked for the half term). Gloves will also need to be worn by each child. Sessions are £16.00 (spaces for the half term are payable at time of booking your space - a waiting list will operate once we are full). Trial sessions can be booked at £19.00 Hats/boot use is £3.00 per use. If you are interested in your child attending FFRS Pony Club please fill and return in the attached form and the office will contact you to arrange payment and confirm your child’s space. T&C - Sessions must be booked in advance with payment over the telephone. Sessions are non-refundable and cannot be moved forward to another date once booked. Children must bring gloves to each session to wear. The Pony Club is a national organisation that promotes childrens’ involvement with learning about pony care and horse riding - details on how to join their organisation can be found on their website www.pcuk.org or on our website under the Pony Club Tab. Session requirements: All children attending must bring their own gloves to wear. Riding hats and boots will be required for any contact with the ponies, if your child does not have an up to standard riding hat these can be booked for the half term for use at £3 – we can not do this on the day. If your child does not have a hat with them or have one prebooked they will only be able to watch these parts of that session Please pack your child any drinks/snacks they may require, as well as weather appropriate clothing. Children will meet in the indoor arena at 6pm and be collected from the same area . Completion of this form is not a guarantee of a space each week, the office will be in touch to confirm. This is a 20 minute led walk ride in an arena with a member of staff leading your horse.
Ideal way to try horse riding before booking formal lessons or as a present for someone.
These are informal fun sessions to come and have a go and include hat and boot use.

Class 1 Novice Cross poles (30cm max in middle) – One round against the clock.
Riders on the lead rein / assistance welcome.
Class 2 Cross poles (45cm max) – Two phase (no uprights or spreads).

Two Phase – If the rider jumps clear round the first part of the course, they ride straight onto the further fences in a timed section. Heights listed in classes are maximum heights.

A rosette will be given to riding school clients who go clear but are unplaced in classes 1-3

Show Jumping Rules
No entry will be accepted without the appropriate fee.
Please note that entries are non-refundable.
The course will be made of a mixture of poly/schooling jumps.
The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry, vary the order or composition of, or cancel any event in this schedule at any time.
In the event of the show being cancelled due to adverse weather conditions we will put an update onto business facebook page as early as possible.
Classes may be split or amalgamated at the organisers' discretion.
All course heights are approximate.
Correct riding dress should be worn and hat with a fixed harness to a minimum standard of PAS 015 (2011) must be worn by riders at all times.
Judged under BS Rules, however the Judges' decision is final.
The organisers have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructors or the organiser, officials and stewards.
If this is your first show competing please note that we allow assistance or leading in the classes indicated on the schedule page. Please remember horses can behave differently in the ring to normal lessons or schooling at home and if you would like assistance please ask. Competitors enter classes at their own risk.
These shows are designed to be encouraging. Please choose appropriate classes for your experience and we would politely ask that you move up classes if you have won a number at a particular level.
Please use designated warm up area only. Do not stand on the track where others are riding and cause an obstruction. Please ride responsibly and observe menage etiquette.
Please do not re-enter the warm up arena (indoor school) once you have finished your jumping round.
No lunging allowed on the show ground.
All lorries and horse trailers to be parked in designated area which will be on the tarmac area opposite the main farm entrance. Please do not leave horses unattended and tied to the lorry. Please tidy hay, droppings and mess from the parking area before leaving. Parking can be restricted if the show is busy so please park close to the next horsebox or as directed by a show steward.
Please ensure that dogs are kept on a lead at all times and that you have third party liability insurance for your dog and your horse to attend the site.
Photographs of class winners / placed riders may be printed / placed onto various media including the FF website, the FF Facebook page. If you do not wish this to happen you must notify us in writing.

Additional info for riding school clients:
Jumping classes can vary in length of time and therefore it is difficult to estimate exact times when riders will be able do their rounds, please allow enough time on site as these shows are informal and encouraging to allow riders to have a go.
We aim to allow a 15 minute warm up on your horse in the indoor ring before you will be expected to jump outside.
You will be expected to walk the course when it is ready on foot to learn the route and to decide how to approach your fences. You will need to ask a parent/friend to put your name down at the gate with the gate volunteer so that you know when you are due to ride e.g. the seventh rider due in. We may need to allocate an order if a pony is due to jump round twice with different riders so there is enough time for both riders.
Carry a short whip with you if you are jumping.
Gloves must be worn, please wear jodphurs with a plain sweatshirt or show jacket.
Prices for riding school clients include horse use. Please note once booked show entries are non-refundable.

Clients of the school may hire a horse for our SJ events or jumping clinics. It is expected that you will have ridden regularly with us beforehand in the last six months and completed a number of jumping lessons or demonstrated the correct ability for the classes/clinic that you want to try.

Come and work on your jumping skills with Kristina who is an experienced show jumping Instructor. Kristina has successfully competed in affiliated show jumping competitions & cross country events and will use her knowledge to help you work towards your goals.
She will be offering 45 minute private sessions to clients in our outdoor arena, and these can be shared with a similar level rider if you prefer where theres avaialbility.

Weds 29/05 - Working Equitation Clinic
Working Equitation is a sport that is hugely popular in Europe, it was started as a competitive sport in 1996 in Italy and has grown massively throughout Spain, Portugal and France since then. It is fast becoming a much bigger sport in the UK with British Working Equitation memberships being the highest they’ve ever been in 2023.
This increasingly popular discipline is being brought to you in collaboration with British Working Equitation Team member Suzanne Dipple, who is currently working towards selection for the World Championships in 2026 as well as competing up to PSG at British Dressage.
Suzanne is a registered UKCCC Level 2 coach and regularly teaches clinics and private lessons. She says 'I have a huge passion for teaching Working Equitation as I love how it is sport that caters to so many different horse and rider levels from Walk and Trot level right through to Grand Prix standard horses and riders. I also love how technically precise you need to be to do the obstacles correctly but all whilst having an absolute blast. It is something different for the horses to engage with whilst also working on all the fundamental basics of training.'
Working Equitation is a sport that can be enjoyed by all, whether you are on a young green horse, you are an inexperienced rider or even a Grand Prix dressage rider, Working Equitation can be targeted to suit and challenge horses and riders of all levels.
It is a sport which shows 3 main factors; horsemanship, submission and control of the horse. In competition these are shown across 3 phases; Dressage, Ease of Handling and Speed. In championship competitions a 4th phase of herding cattle is added.
There are several obstacles required to be manoeuvred in a certain way in the Ease of Handling phase, the obstacles typically represent when horses were used to work the fields, farms and cattle.
There are 5 levels of Working Equitation in the UK; Walk and Trot, Novice, Intermediate B, Intermediate A and Advanced.
Come along and try something new and fun! All levels or horse and rider welcome and catered for!
Riders will be in groups of 3 for an hour. All levels catered for and In-hand groups can also be delivered. Riding School clients must be in Novice groups or above.

Thurs 30/5 - Pony Camp for Intro+ riders
For riders aged 7 years and upwards
A full day at the yard where children will be involved in catching ponies in from the fields, grooming, tacking up, feeding, stable work and games/stable manegment training or quizzes with a one hour ride included. Full day with a takeaway lunch included.
These days are for children riding off the lead rein in trot. If you are not a regular rider please book an assessment lesson to check your childs ability.

10.30-11.30 – For riders in our Novice groups and upwards just starting

Tues -Unicorns session
For children aged 4 years old and upwards
Includes grooming ponies and an approx 20 min ride either round the paddocks or in an arena. An ideal introduction to the ponies and riding. Includes hat and boot use. Please bring gloves for your children to use.
Parents are required to come and lead with the staff, foot wear can be borrowed if you like.

A four -week course covering the content required to take your Stage 1 Care exam. Ideal preparation for the exam or an opportunity to learn more about general horse care as the syllabus covers horse’s health, grooming, rugs and mucking out as well as other areas. The sessions will run on Sundays and involve practical and theoretical content. Recommended minimum age of 14 years old. Date: Starting 21st January 2024 Time: 09.30-1.15pm Cost: £178 for the course

For pairs of riders working at similar levels - 45 minute session indoors with Megan working on jump exercises.
Riders will be paired together as they book or you are welcome to book in with a friend (both slots must be booked/paid for at the same time).
