Pony club will restart mid-March 2019 and run until the end of November 2019.

As an approved centre, we offer access to children to learn all about pony care and stable management whilst achieving badges and exams, in a fun and safe environment with trained instructors.
To join any of our sessions you will need to be a member of the national Pony Club (this is separate to the Fletchers Farm Riding School Loyalty Scheme and is £31.00 for Centre Membership for 2019). Forms can be downloaded from the Pony Club site or we can send you a link. If you are not currently a member and there is space, you are welcome to try one session first before joining. We require that you bring your Pony Club membership cards with you to sessions as everyone’s joining dates will be different depending on when they were due to renew. For more details on the pony club please visit: www.pcuk.org and you can pick up an application form in our office.

This year at Fletchers Farm, we will be offering two options:

Cobs (E/D Test Sessions) – This group will have a two and a half hour session that is aimed at preparation for the ridden E/D Test (up to Silver level, however the actual exam is optional) as well as doing achievement badges and having fun along the way! There will be training and stable management and some riding during the session (however we recommend the riding in this group is to compliment the child’s normal riding lessons especially if they intend to do the exam). To join this group children must be able to walk and trot on their own.
Cobs Non-ridden Badge option This group will have a one and a half hour session that covers pony care, stable management topics as well as doing achievement badges and having fun along the way! No experience is required to join these sessions.

Shires (D+/C/Platinum Test Sessions) – This group is for more advanced riders. It will involve a two and a half hour training session each fortnight. Riders must be able to canter and have passed their D Test to join this group. There will be stable management appropriate to this level and some riding (however we recommend the riding in this group is to compliment the riders normal riding lessons). There will be a mock exam for this group later in the year and it is strongly advisable that children attend this exam if they intend to do their test in October.
Members who hold their Platinum text and who are working towards C+, are welcome to join the advanced group. We offer the chance to book individual training sessions tailored towards the needs of the higher exams, please speak to Helen or Jackie for further details.

Both groups will run fortnightly (please see dates below) on a Saturday morning 09.30-12.00. The cost will be £25 per session payable in payments of 4 sessions at a time which will cover two months attendance and a waiting list will operate for each group once it is full.
The Cobs Non-ridden runs 09.30-11.00 and costs £15.00 per session.

Please note we allow for two Saturdays holiday time (without paying) during the pony club year. If you require more than this time away from the sessions without paying to reserve your space, then the space may be offered to someone on the waiting list. Our accounts lady, Sally will call you to collect payments, every two months in advance of the sessions.

All sessions will include games and other activities appropriate to the children’s level of experience and ages. We will also be holding various days out and trips so please keep an eye on the notice boards and our website/facebook for details.

Saturday 27th April - Sam Curnick clinic

BSc (Hons) Equine Sports Therapist and Equine Body Worker
Saturday 27th April 9am -1pm

These pole clinics are based on exercises from a therapists perspective.
The sessions greatly benefit the musculature system to improve the way of going for the horse. Pole work allows the horse to stretch over the back relaxing all the muscles, but at the same time asks for all the body to engage to lift through the core and use muscles correctly.
The aim of the sessions is to improve riders knowledge and understanding of how their horses are working over the poles. In the ridden sessions, they will be able to feel the stretch and engagement with various pole routines set out. Both flat and raised poles will be used within the rhythm of both walk and trot. Sessions will also include a warm up/cool down section.

We are offering one-hour sessions with Sam for a maximum of four in a group.
All abilities welcome with rosettes for every participant plus an information pack which contains homework pole work routines/ suggested filming sessions.

Sunday 12th May - Loan Scheme new dates

- The scheme allows riders to trial the commitment of part loaning a pony/horse twice week within a structured setting.
- The scheme covers riding your loan horse on Thursday afternoons (overall session 4-6pm with riding 4.30-5.30pm) and Sunday lunch times (overall session 12-2pm with riding 1-2pm).
- Ridden sessions will be supervised by a member of staff initially, and an adult must be present at all times for a rider who is under 16 years old. The ridden sessions allow for riders to get used to making their own schooling plans, and experience riding with others in the indoor school on a Thursday and outdoor arena on a Sunday.
- FFRS would actively encourage riders to still have regular lessons in order to keep progressing with their ridden skills.

- Loan scheme agreements are for 8-week blocks at a time.
- A total payment of £320 will be required for the sessions, payable in two amounts of £160 at time of booking and £160 four weeks later.
- A waiting list will operate for some horses, and you may be required to return to this list once your scheme session time is up.
- Riders must be in the Intermediate group or above to participate in the scheme and their regular instructor and the school manager must agree with their horse choice and ability in order to participate.
- Any jumping will be within the Sunday ridden session.
- The ridden sessions may on occasions be held in other arenas.
- Session days cannot be exchanged for other days during the week if you are unable to attend.
- Should you be unable to attend one of your days, you are required to let the yard know.
- The session will include grooming time, turn out if your horse is not required again for the day, tidying up of stable area and 2 sessions of tack cleaning within the period.
- The normal event/show hire will apply if you participate in shows and there is no priority for you over the loan horse, however if a show falls on one of your days, you will be hacking instead of schooling in the arenas.
- Not all horses are on the scheme but please get in touch with the manager to discuss your horse requirements.
- FFRS reserve the right to terminate agreements immediately should there be any safety or welfare concerns raised. Other terms apply, please get in touch with the Manager if you are interested.
